Senez Reed Calder seeking a Senior Building Code Consultant

Senez Reed Calder is a dynamic group of life safety code specialists, fire protection engineers, and forensic engineers. Operating from Richmond, BC, we are dedicated to providing comprehensive fire and life safety consulting to developers, contractors, architects, engineers, lawyers, insurance companies and government agencies. Through research and live burn exercises, our group of engineers and technologists specialize in Fire Protection Engineering Design, Building and Fire Code Consulting, Fire Modelling and Visualization, Evacuation and People Movement Analysis, and Product Testing and Development.

We are currently looking for a Senior Building Code Consultant to join our growing team of professionals. The successful applicant will coordinate and conduct building plan reviews, interpret the building code, conduct fire analyses, develop code equivalencies, and prepare building design reports. The candidate will be responsible for the review and implementation of fire protection strategies and will coordinate on all matters with the design team and authorities having jurisdiction.

The ideal candidate will be an engineer, architect or technologist and will have the following qualifications:

  • 7 to 10 years of industry experience;
  • detailed knowledge of local and national building and fire codes;
  • a strong understanding of fire protection engineering principals;
  • experience in developing building code concepts, equivalencies, conducting building plan reviews and field reviews;
  • the ability to work well independently and to interact with other
  • industry professionals, associated trades and industry authorities;
  • exceptional verbal and written communication skills in the English language.
Additional experience in developing performance-based analyses, fire modelling, and egress analysis would be an asset.
